Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) retreated collectively on Tuesday amid selling pressures by the institutions especially the foreign one.

The benchmark index EGX30 lost 0.73% or 60.2 points to close at 8,186.7 points, while the small and medium –caps remained quietly unchanged at the level of 361.8 points.

The broader index EGX100 inched down 0.15% to 807.8 points. Following suit the weighted index EGX50 edged down 0.16% to 1,392.9 points.

The index’s largest constituent, CIB, was down 1.2% on the day closing at EGP 49.04, with trading value of 85.8 million.

The market witnessed 118.8 million shares changed hands worth EGP 453.4 million.

The index’s top performing constituents were Egyptian Iron and Steel, up 5.6%, Arabian Cement Company, up 2.4%, and TMGH, up 1.0%. On the flip side, the worst performers were Edita Food Industries, down 4.0%, Emaar Misr, down 3.5%, and Domty, down 2.5%.

Foreign investors came as net sellers with EGP 33.5 million, while local and Arab investors ended as net buyers with EGP 23.9 million and EGP 9.5 million respectively.

The market capitalization slide by EGP 885 million to close at EGP 414.6 billion.
